WPE files in /tmp ???

I am getting some files in my /tmp directory that look like apache access log files. They are named wpe.2011.03.02, wpe.2011.03.01, etc. one per day. The data of the files seems to be hit for search results or catalog results, from bots such as yslurp or googlebot. I cannot find out anything about these files. I ran an audit against the file and while I see lines appearing, audit does not tell me what process opened the file.

any suggestions about where these are coming from?
